About Me

I’m from a small town in North Idaho Called Bonners Ferry.  The town has (had) 2,515 people, and one stoplight.  It’s a beautiful area with more mountains and lakes than you could ever want.

When I was 8 my dad bought me a Yamaha acoustic guitar (probably hoping that I would play with him someday in our living room).  The guitar sat in the corner of my room for a few years and gathered dust as I grew up.  I’m not entirely sure what made me pick it up again. . . that’s a lie.  I was 13 and it was a girl.  After an embarrassing feeble attempted to win her over with song, I ended up falling in love with the instrument instead.  I started off playing by ear. It got me to a very beginner level, but it wasn’t until a year or so later my when my Father got me lessons from a family friend that I was able to take my guitar playing to the next level. Those lessons were very important; helping me learn some guitar theory as well as making me better at improvising. After about 6 months of lessons and two years of high school Jazz band I finally began piecing together how to play and not suck.

In the later years of high school I was involved in a rock band, “Of Wind and Folly,” with my friends Tyson Boorman, and Marshall Watts.  After high school we all went separate directions and it was back to the confines of my living room. This time in a different town 150 miles south of where I grew up, called Moscow.

During my time in Moscow I was able to start writing and playing without the confines of having to make my music fit a particular style. I had been told for a while by friends and family that I should record my songs. After I had a few new songs, I started working on recording my own music. The first album was far from perfect, but it was nice to be able to finally put out my own music.

In 2016, I left Moscow to go to flight school in Gig Harbor, WA.  In order to pay the bills I picked up a job working in the produce department at Albertsons. This turned out to be much more than another grocery job.  My first official day as a closer, I met one of my co-workers, Kaila, who taught me all about how to close the department for the evening.  It turns out she was a pretty cool person, and long story short we ended up getting married two years later! Now we have two kids, drive two Priuses, have too much debt, and my amp is always “too loud.” She’s a keeper though.

Music has kind of turned into a side hobby, a sort of therapy some days and an outlet for creativity on others. I wouldn’t trade my day job to be a touring musician. Flying jets pays much better, and I still get to see the world (except my arena is at 35,000 feet). I would also never get rid of my guitars, or stop writing, so I will keep doing it. I try to do as much as I can by myself and have recently been trying to hone in my guitar skills and expand my home studio skills.

Please consider checking out my music on Apple Music or Spotify, you can find links to my songs at the top of this webpage. If you’re interested in what gear I play on or my recording process feel free to check out The Gear page and the Recording Studio page. Happy Browsing!
